Is it illegal to purchase fake/replica Oakley sunglasses?

I've heard that Oakley, Inc has prosecuted websites selling knock-offs of their high end sunglasses. It's patent infringement to sell items with the Oakley name. But is it illegal to purchase them? And if so, how serious of a violation is that?
Answer:
Yes. But many versions of this and other knock-offs crop up on eBay and other auction/sale websites if not the "street". Although the burden lies primarily on the seller, in most instances, the buyer is not the one and very unlikely to be the one prosecuted. (depending on circumstances)
Please note, that the "middle man" is often also the victim of these types of sales. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of both the buyer and seller to be informed.
it is not illegal to buy but illegal to pass off as real.
You will not likely get prosecuted for purchasing brand knock offs. The most that will happen is that the item will be confiscated.
Selling them is illegal, but the companies cannot prosecute people who buy them. When I was younger I worked at a cell phone kiosk and we had to hide all of those fake louis vioutton cell phone covers because people in our mall were being prosecuted by the company for selling them.
Yes, if you knowingly purchase them. You can be charged for buying a stolen item, as in fact you are contributing to the crime, because if you don't purchase them there is not a crime. Since the glasses are so expensive, you would certainly know that they are either stolen or a knock off.
I dont think it would be illegal for you purchasing it but the ones who sale it maybe but people sale knockoff perfume all the time I dont think there is a penalty
No it is not legal to use a brand name of some one who has rights to the name.
