Is it illegal to try and by alcohol if u are underage?

I went into a package store with my real I.D. and attempted to buy alcohol with it, is it illegal to try? I know that its illegal if i actually purchase it but if i try and get turned down.. is this illegal? I am asking from Mass./Ct.

Yes it is illegal to attempt to purchase alcohol in CT. In CT, The Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) administers the Liquor Control Act. It regulates the sale of liquor to prevent sales to minors and other “unsuitable” people.
The law establishes a panoply of punishments for minors who possess, purchase, or even attempt to purchase liquor. A minor can be fined from $ 200 to $ 500 for (1) possessing liquor in a public place, (2) buying liquor, (3) attempting to buy liquor, or (4) making a false statement to buy liquor. A minor who misrepresents his age or uses another’s driver’s license to obtain liquor can be fined from $ 200 to $ 500, imprisoned for up to 30 days, or both. Further, the motor vehicles commissioner must suspend for up to 150 days the driver’s license of a minor convicted of violating these laws.

Yes, it is illegal to attempt and purchase alcohol if you are underage. But even if it is not, you know it is illegal for you to posses alcohol if you are under age, so what would you do with it if they sold it to you? Next time try thinking a little harder. In fact, maybe you should not even be attempting to consume alcohol at all...seems like you need all the brain cells you have left.

Oh you can try all you want. The most you will get is a lecture by an officer. But if the person in the store sells you the booze and you are underage, they could face criminal charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Plus, large fines and loss of a job. The store will also lose it's liquor license.
You may want to get stoned, but you may be getting someone else in alot of trouble for your efforts.
Wait till you grow up! 21 years old to be exact!
