Is it lawful to make a person work 12 hours but give them only 8 hours of holiday?

I work a 12 hour shift job. For holidays we are given only 8 hours. Upper management tells you when to take your hoilday but you have to come in for 4 hours or take 4 hours of your vacation to get 12 hours for that day is this lawful. Should we get 12 hr. for holidays since we work 12 hours

i dont know about lawful but it happens i get the same thing as you.. i know it sucks, i have seen this happen alot!
yes it is against the law!! call the labor board.
Absent a contract provision to the contrary, your employer has no legal obligation to recognize holidays at all. Look to your employment contract for your answer, if you have one.
